Feedback on ECCM21
From the 2nd to the 4th of July, we were at ESCM’s 21st European Conference on Composite Materials in Nantes! The ECCM21 was a hub for cutting-edge research and development in composites, and gathered more than 1400 professionals and experts from both academia and industry. D-STANDART was represented by 6 researchers: Francisco Monticeli; Dario Di Maio; Jordy Schönthaler ; xi Li; John-Alan Pascoe; and Yasmine Mosleh from Delft University of Technology and University of Twente.
Some key takeaways from D-STANDART:
- Innovative testing methods: The project aims to develop efficient, cost-effective and accurate testing methods for composites that provide comprehensive data on material behaviour, taking into account physical-mechanical aspects.
- Collaborative efforts: By involving research institutions, industry leaders and regulatory bodies, the project will ensure that the standards are versatile and widely applicable.
- Real-world applications: Case studies will highlight the project’s impact on improving the safety and durability of structural applications and emphasise the importance of standardised testing.
First-hand testimonials from our researchers:
- “The conference provided valuable networking opportunities and insights on the future of the composites research”.
- “The discussions on D-STANDART were inspiring and demonstrated the critical role of standardisation in the advancement of composites”.
- “D-STANDART presentations attracted a large audience and paved the way for synergies with similar research aims and interests on standardized testing methods for composites”.
- “The cross-fertilization during the conference was highly beneficial, and led to new ideas eg. for the techniques to be used in our nonlinear structural dynamics analysis”.
